Teaching Philosophy
The philosopher Plato said, “Music gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.” My teaching philosophy begins with showing students that learning to play a musical instrument is something that they will be able to enjoy for their entire life. Making music is an amazing way to awaken the imagination and to be an outlet for self-expression.

Mr. Ross has been my teacher for 8 years. He's always been fun and supportive in lessons. He can be tough sometimes, but I play better because he didn't let me get away with sloppy playing!

Mr. Ross makes me laugh.

I like that Mr. Ross gives me fun stuff to play. I love Disney songs and the Lion King - it was fun to learn those songs.

I see Mr. Ross on the computer. He explains everything I need to do each week and sends typed notes so I don't forget. He plays my songs for me so I know how they go. He also helped my mom pick out a new digital piano.

What I appreciate most is Mr. Ross's organization. As a teacher myself, having a teaching plan is important, as is being flexible with those plans. Mr. Ross has been great at doing both.

I appreciate the variety of music that Mr. Ross uses in his lessons. I am a musician as well, so knowing that he employs classical music, pop music and THEORY in addition to the regular lesson material makes me very happy

Mr. Ross has taught both of my boys. They always felt comfortable with him and looked forward to lessons. Mr. Ross was a visitor in our home for so many years he became like family!

As a mother of a young child with lots of energy, Mr. Ross has the patience to let him bounce around and then gets him refocused on their lesson. My child gets excited every day when Mr. Ross is coming. Ross is quite good with young kids.
